james bond cornell link that I knew nothing about...
so...

in the james bond movie "the man with the golden gun", our illustrious womanizing spy and all around cool guy launches an amc hornet off of a ramp into a 360 degree barrel roll and lands it safely on its wheels.

apparantly, before this happened there was something called the 'cornell aeronautics laboratory'. Apparantly, they had nothing better to do than figure out how cars behaved during rollovers. On computer, they devised a stunt that involved said car doing said barrel roll and landing safely, as explained.

Some stunt driver named W. Jay Milligan got all hired and stuff to do the stunt, which Texas decided had to be the first ones to do it. It was after this showcase that Milligan was contacted by James Bond movie makers to do the stunt in thailand for "the man with the golden gun".

Do you not feel vastly more informed now?

Wow, Cornell continues to rock my socks off! Cornell University also has on display part of a collection of 600 brains that Professor Bert Green Wilder gathered during his lifetime. The collection includes his own brain.

Damn, yo.

And hurrah, you rememberd your password!

It's good to be part of such an enlightened and edumacated school. We've influenced James Bond!

Up next, the college of engineering will find a way to reconstruct Scaramanga's infamous Golden Gun. And then they'll build a trebuchet, just because some guy on Lost did it too.

I do believe that ted/bedwyr has the trebuchet experience. Or something miss-ile-ly, anyways....

(ted/bedwyr is a cornellcop)

Would that all Cornell endeavors were used so wisely and so well to so enrich my life. Any up and coming Cornell-James Bond joint ventures in the offing?

Again I find it amusing that you broke your silence of practically forever to write something like this. ;)

Which days are your "weekend" again? It's usually easy for me to call people at odd times during the week, but not at times when most people are home. Right now Emily gets all of my random mid-morning phone calls. I'll add you to my list.

as my weeks are newly all screwed up, the best time to reach me is on tuesdays. I always have tuesdays off, which is easy to remember. Every other week, I also have sunday and monday off, the opposite week, I have every other wednesday off. Not really random, just hard to get your brain around. so just remember tuesdays!

hows it?

:D

Interesting indeed. So now we know what gets you ramped up enough to write an entry. Keep it up and you'll be on a roll. Just don't let things spiral out of control.

gee, you almost whizzed by faster than the speed limit! Almost made me lose control! Careful, I might skid out...

heh

but, seriously, the skill and dedication that drove that research came in handy in the final lap.

Now, now, don't jump to any conclusions, or you could wind up landing in trouble.

I could continue, but I'd just be spinning my wheels.
